OEHHA
OEHHA Director Dr. Joan Denton announced that Allan Hirsch has been appointed as the office’s Chief Deputy Director, effective January 22, 2007.
Since 1999, Hirsch has served as OEHHA’s Deputy Director, External and Legislative Affairs. In that position, Hirsch was the office’s liaison with the Legislature and the news media, and oversaw the tracking and analysis of legislative bills and the issuance of news releases and informational materials. Hirsch also directed the Proposition 65 Implementation Program, which handles various administrative functions relating to Proposition 65.
In his position as Chief Deputy Director, Hirsch will be responsible for day-to-day management of OEHHA. He will have broad-based responsibilities covering OEHHA’s scientific programs, administrative functions, and external affairs.
Prior to joining OEHHA, Hirsch worked at the Air Resources Board and the Department of Toxic Substances Control. He is a graduate of the University of California, Berkeley.
Hirsch replaces Val Siebal, who recently left OEHHA to become director of the Sacramento County Department of Environmental Management.
