The California Environmental Protection Agency (Cal/EPA) and the Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment (OEHHA) announce the availability of the “Cumulative Impacts: Building a Scientific Foundation” report. This report presents the first step in developing a screening methodology to evaluate the cumulative impacts of multiple sources of pollution in specific communities or geographic areas. The scientific screening methodology is intended for eventual use by the boards, departments and office of the California Environmental Protection Agency (Cal/EPA), which intends shortly to initiate the development of guidelines to accompany this methodology.
A draft of this report was the subject of a public workshop and a meeting of Agency’s Cumulative Impacts and Precautionary Approaches (CI/PA) Work Group. Both meetings were held on September 2, 2010. The draft report was revised based upon comments received at these meetings as well as written submissions from interested parties.
For questions regarding this report, please contact John Faust at (510) 622-3185 or JFaust@oehha.ca.gov.
